Special Oils

Special Formulated sEMUlation: Emu-The fat of the emu is not that different from that of the chicken. Despite the huge amount of advertising, there are no articles published in international scientific journals to confirm the magical virtues of emu oil. There is however a lot to be said for providing the skin with oils, especially those containing essential fatty acids and especially in the winter. Older skin is “starved” of nutrients, and providing nutrition topically will compensate for loss of irrigation of the dermis by blood vessels and loss of nutrition.

sEMUlation is better than imitation: it implies that we can do better than the original. Why is sEMUlation oil better than emu oil? In formulating it, I tried to achieve a similar appearance, viscosity and fatty acid composition to that of emu oil, but added oils that contain special fatty acids and those known to be particularly good to the skin. sEMUlation should also be able to help with the loss of subcutaneous fat that comes with aging.

What is NOT there: because bacteria and mold will not grow in a water-free medium, there is no need for preservatives, but I added some nice antioxidants that will prolong the shelf life of the oil and will also benefit your skin.

Pecan Oil: Pecan oil is cold-pressed from nutritious pecan nuts. It is high in oleic acid (up to 73%) and contains a useful amount of linoleic acid (up to 17%). It can be used in the same way as similar oils e.g. sweet almond and canola. It is used in skin care products for its moisturizing qualities and is good for dry , chapped skin and mature skin. Pecan oil serves as an excellent carrier oil for epidermis penetration.

Tea Tree Oil: Antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti fungal properties. Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of a kind of melaleuca tree known elaleuca alternifolia, or the ti tree. While it is toxic if ingested in significant doses, tea tree oil in smaller doses may help as a natural ingredient in skin care.

Hemp Seed Oil: This is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Because of its nutritional content and antioxidant properties, hemp seed oil may help you reduce inflammation, enhance skin moisture, avoid tissue damage and premature aging, and protect your skin from UV sun exposure.

Vitamin E Oil: with its powerful antioxidant qualities may help with Cuts Burns Razor Bumps Cuticles Sunburn Insect Bites Scars, Irritations with tattoos or body piercings. Vitamin E oil may help with skin and nail conditions. It is a strong antioxidant that may help your body combat the free radicals that can lead to premature aging.

Sea Buckthorn Oil: Contains: 30% palmitoleic acid, carotinoids (including a high level of beta-carotine), tocopherols, alcohols, (vitamins A, C and E). 1900 IU of Provitamine A per gram of extract. Research indicates that products containing Sea Buckthorn Berry appear to promote cell tissue regeneration, thus aiding in the healing of wounds, and restoring skin tissue. Current research indicates that not only does it enhance immune activity and disease resistance, but it also destroys harmful free radicals found in our bodies. Clinical experiments in Shantow Tropical Disease Hospital and the Shanxi Pharmaceutical Research Institute indicate cosmetics containing Sea Buckthorn extracts can actually improve metabolism andretard skin maturation, thus slowing the aging process, possibly because of the effects of its high levels of Vitamins A and E. Sea Buckthorn oil has proven effective in the treatment of skin conditions including burns, skin ulcers, cancer, acne and dermatitis of various forms.

Arnica Oil:  Highly beneficial for the treatment of bruises, acne, and inflammation from insect bites, muscle aches, sprains, rheumatic pain, and superficial phlebitis, pulled muscles, tendon strain, wound, and swelling due to fractures.

Foraha Oil: From its origin in Madagascar foraha (tamanu) is traditional oil used in the Polynesian Islands and Madagascar, and its healing capacity and versatility are now better understood in the modern world. Foraha Oil has the ability to heal damaged skin is well-researched. The oil is notable for treating scars, stretch marks (fades stretch marks with great results), minor wounds, skin irritations, rashes, bedsores and many other skin concerns. Foraha Oil promotes new tissue formation, accelerating healing and healthy skin growth. It is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti fungal.

Kukui Oil: From its origin in Hawaii Kukui Oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the outer layer of the skin, consisting of mainly dead or peeling cells, leaving a semi-permeable barrier of essential fatty acids. Kukui Oil also contains vitamins A, C, and E, which are all antioxidants.

Babassu oil: From its origin in Brazil babassu oil comes from the kernels of the babassu palm and is a non-drying oil It is high in lauric and myristic acids. These acids have melting points that are close to the human body temperature so, when applied, babassu oil draws the heat from the skin to initiate melting. Therefore, the transfer of the heat creates a cooling sensation on the skin. Babassu oil also forms a protective, soothing coat when applied to the skin as well as a pleasant, smooth feeling. Babassu oil contains about 70% lipids.

Apigenin: One of the most common flavonoids, is widely distributed in many fruits and vegetables, including parsley, onions, orange, tea, chamomile, wheat sprouts and in some seasonings. Apigenin has potential uses in cancer prevention and therapy, and it suppresses cell growth against many human cancer cell lines, including breast, colon, skin, thyroid, leukemia, and prostate cancer cells. Unlike other structurally related flavonoids, apigenin is non-mutagenic. Apigenin is an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory, as a cancer preventative. A phenolic flavonoid found in many plants, this antioxidant has chemopreventive activity against skin cancer. It also prevents UVA and B induced skin cancer and may prevent skin aging by UV through inhibition of metalloproteinases and antioxidant activity. Our apigenin is of high purity (>98%.

Curcumin (BCM_95 ExtractTumeric) : Known for its ability to balance the body's natural inflammatory response, Curcumin BCM-95 has been proven in published clinical studies to provide consistent and long-lasting effects. The impact of BosPure boswellia is enhanced by removal of pro-inflammatory compounds commonly found in this plant and DLPA (DL-phenylalanine) has been shown to help maximize the effects of endorphins and enkephalins, the body's own powerful pain relievers. Rounding out the formula is an enzyme, nattokinase that not only boosts healthy circulation it has a direct impact on muscle pain via its ability to balance fibrinogen levels in the body.

St. John’s Wort: May be used both internally and externally and is an excellent medication for treating nerve pain and all types of sufferings and strains caused to the nervous system. In addition, St. John's wort is often recommended to treat trigeminal neuralgia (sharp and convulsive pain all along the course of a nerve) and sciatica (any painful condition spreading from the hip downwards to the back of the thigh and adjoining areas), back pain, fibrositis (a condition distinguished by unceasing pain in the muscles and soft tissues adjacent to the joints, fatigue, and soreness at particular areas in the body), shingles (an ailment caused by the varicella-zoster virus), headaches as well as rheumatic pain. The herbal oil extracted from St. John's wort alleviates and cures burns, lesions, cuts, tenderness, and ulcers as well as soothes inflammation or tenderness.

Carotenoids

Astaxanthin: A carotenoid, is a potent antioxidant that enhances the immune system and reduces the acute inflammatory reaction of the skin and underlying tissue that follows excessive exposure to UV radiation. Carotenoids in general, and especially astaxanthin, protect cells against oxidation by quenching singlet oxygen, dissipating the energy as heat, and scavenging free radicals to prevent and terminate chain reactions. The astaxanthin used is purified from microalgae H. pluvialis, grown and processed in Hawaii.Astaxanthin is a very thick, pungent, and strongly colored ingredient.

Lycopene: Is a carotenoid and is the key antioxidant in tomatoes.  It synergistically interacts with Lutein and inhibits the cell growth of some human cancers. Lycopene traps singlet oxygen, making it a great antioxidant. At physiological concentrations it inhibits cell growth of some human cancers without toxic effects on normal cells, apparently by upregulating a gene, connexin 43, that restores cells to normal proliferation. The combination of Lycopene and Lutein synergistically interact as antioxidants, and this may relate to specific positioning of different carotenoids in membranes.

Lutein: is used by our body but we cannot make it, we need to obtain it from food or apply it topically.  Although its main role seems to be for vision (in the lens and macula lutea of the eye), lutein may also provide protection against UV -induced redness, inflammation, and wrinkling. It also helps maintain skin hydration, smoothness and elasticity. The xanthophyll lutein functions in plants and humans as a filter of high energy blue light and as an anti-oxidant that quenches and scavenges photo-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): Is good and essential for cell function, but not essential in the nutritional sense because our bodies make it. Older skin may be "starved" of this very important antioxidant and cofactor.ALA is a naturally occurring dithiol (--SH) complex, and is the prosthetic (i.e. non-proteic) group of several very important enzymes, including the transacetylase part of the enzyme complex that catalyzes the decarboxylation of pyruvate so that the remaining 2-carbon group can enter the Krebs cycle. Aside from its enzymic role, in vitro and in vivo studies suggest that ALA also acts as a powerful micronutrient with diverse pharmacologic and antioxidant properties.
